First name is OK -: Bill State you are from? -: PA Homepage URL -: http://falcon83@frontiernet.net Who do you need info on in reference to Prison or civil war? -: ANSWER for Deborah Jensen from Texas rel. to Samuel Traugh Your Question or Comment !! -: My records show he was formerly a member of the 12th Pa. Reserves, Company E, enlisting Jan. 22, 1864, then joining the 190th Pa. Vol., Company A, on June 1, 1864. He was captured August 19, 1864 at the Weldon Railroad south of Petersburg. Unfortunately, I do not have a prison listed for him. Most of the unit did go to Salisbury, NC but a few were held in Richmond, VA. Pension and service records might be your only hope for an answer to which prison. If you do find out, please let me know as I am also involved in the Salisbury Confederate Prison Association and I will add his name to their records if he was in Salisbury. My records also show a William Traugh 12th Reserves, Company E, who re-enlisted in the 190th Pa. Vol., Company A, dying June 27, 1864, in Washington, DC and buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

First name is OK -: Shellie State you are from? -: Iowa Who do you need info on in reference to Prison or civil war? -: James E Reed Your Question or Comment !! -: I noticed on your webpage a small section about James E Reed. He was my ggrandfather. I have found his information from the Milwaukee Soldiers Home. That document has his enlistment, discharge dates as well as the statement about his ailment from being in Saulbury Prison NC. I would give anything to find out if these are one and the same. His history is very vague, and this military history has been the first and best information I have found on him. Anyway, since the information you presented was only a paragraph, and it mentions a story that was about him...I would give anything to find out what that story is, or where it can be found. Also, if you could give me any information as to how to track down any further personal wartime information, I would be so appreciative, as I am very unlearned in these matters but desperately want to learn more. First name is OK -: Connie State you are from? -: North Carolina Who do you need info on in reference to Prison or civil war? -: George Marley Your Question or Comment !! -: George Marley , my great-great grandfather, was born 1 Apr 1836 in England, came to America, and served as a private in possibly the 99th New York Infantry, Company L, during the Civil War. According to the 1890 Garrett County, Maryland Veterans Census, he was a prisoner of war at the "Salsberry Prison" for one year. He died in Garrett County 23 Mar 1941. He is one of my few ancestors who surpassed 100 years of age which I find particularly remarkable if he spent a year in a Civil War prison during his 3+ year military term of Civil War service. I also had two kin persons, (sons of a great-great-great grandfather's brother)that served in the 6th North Carolina Senior Reserves. I wonder if either Jonathan or Thomas Marshill may have stood guard over George Marley?? How did you discover the info you have now?: Family lore and research. I have used Ancestry and various county Genweb sites for most military records.

F. He was my 3rd great-grandfather. According to a 1932 genealogical entry, Silas died either in November or December of 1864 at Salisbury. This seems to have been a time of exponential death rates among the Union prisoners. I just want to see if his name is listed. Obviously, these people in 1932 knew something of his death. I would just like to have a bit of closure for this soul. Thank you.
